Oriel Y Parc & The Twrch Trwyth

Hooray it’s St David’s Day which means the launch of our Preseli Pils Lager! My day started off with a trip to Oriel Y Parc in St David’s for a quick pint with the Twrch Trwyth statue who sits in their grounds. I contacted Oriel Y Parc last month to ask if I could go along and take some photos in front of the Giant Boar as part of our Year of Legends campaign and St David’s day launch. Oriel Y Parc were very helpful and even suggested the idea of filming one of their storytellers whilst I was there. I met Delun; an Archaeologist and part-time storyteller. Delun was very happy to re-tell the famous story of the battle between King Arthur and his knights and Twrch Trwyth, the giant boar …

It is not very often that I visit Oriel Y Parc but their Twrch Trwyth statue was a good enough excuse for me to nip out of the office for a couple of hours and I’m glad that I did. The centre includes a visitor facility, discovery room for family friendly art and nature activities, artist studios and a café. It’s in the heart of St David’s and provides a great spot for tourists and locals alike. The staff were all very friendly, made me a lovely cup of coffee whilst I was busy taking photos and are the people in the know for all things St Davids and around!

Check out what’s on at the centre this weekend for the St David’s celebrations (rumour has it there’s a dragon parade!): What’s on at Oriel Y Parc
